Surely you want to see more, in London, than art materials shops? Pop into a gallery, any you happen to pass, and pick up a copy of "Galleries" magazine, which is free.
It will tell you what is on, art-wise, in London and where. Gorgeous gallery, always something interesting to see. I just saw the Matisse and his Fabrics exhibition - wonderful. Asprey is worth seeing for its interior - it has incorporated a street into the shop.
It is very Victorian, small and pedestrianised, lovely pub on the corner, good restaurants, and several small galleries. It is very near Green park Tube station, come out of the station, turn right and walk along till you see a little black wrought-iron sign to Shepherd Market. On your left hand side, across the street as you walk, is a vast park - go there when you have finished with Shepherd Market.

Lots of tame wildlife - you will see pelicans walking on the paths, and squirrels run up to you.

Nicely presented individual pastels: I bought quite a few Unisons and carefully brought them back as hand-held luggage. Well worth the walk to Whitechapel Gallery, which is, conveniently, just a few blocks from Atlantis, a large art supply store.
